Compliant enclosure!

Here are the 4 key points for a fence that complies with the law:

Minimum Height

The enclosure must have a minimum height of 1.2 m (4 feet) at all points from the ground.

Maximum Spacing

The enclosure must prevent the passage of a spherical object 10 cm in diameter. This standard applies to the spacing between the ground and the fence, as well as between the bars.

Climbing Prohibited

The fence must be free of any element (fastening, protrusion, openwork) that could facilitate climbing. Horizontal rails that can be used as footholds are prohibited or must be installed on the inside.

Exclusions

Hedges and shrubs cannot under any circumstances constitute an enclosure. Ornamental fences or chain-link fences over 30 mm (if not slated) are prohibited.
The door and access

The door and access

Your enclosure door is the most critical point for safety. Here are the points it must respect:

Automatic lock

The door must be equipped with a passive safety device allowing it to close and lock automatically.

Lock Height

The release button, if on the exterior side of the enclosure, must be at a minimum height of 1.5 m (5 feet) from the ground.

Above ground access

For above-ground or removable pools that do not have an enclosure, the ladder must be equipped with a safety door that closes and locks automatically.

The Perimeter

The 1-Metre Rule

Fixed Objects to Keep Away

No fixed structure or equipment that could be used to climb over the fence may be installed within one metre. This includes:
operating equipment (pumps, filters)
retaining walls
play structures.

Beware of Mobile Furniture and Trees

This rule does not apply to mobile equipment such as garden furniture, nor to trees. However, it is recommended to avoid leaving such equipment too close to prevent climbing. Also make sure to trim branches that pose a risk.
